NEWS “CORMA Biobío and Talcahuano Municipality initiate Urban Forestation Plan 2010-2014

Chilean Wood Corporation and their forest companies associated initiate the Urban Forestation Plan 2010-2014 in the Talcahuano town where it´s will do delivery of 10,000 pine plants with purpose to be utilized in different areas, for example: to fence soccer fields and recreational areas, to contain hills, use them as windscreen and noise.
This initiative it´s sum to the III Peasant Forestation Plan that Chilean Wood Corporation it´s is developing in the period 2010-2014, in 37 rural towns, with a delivery of 7,500,000, plants (1,500,000 annual plants) benefiting to 12,000 families, who will forest 7,500 hectares.
According to guild, the aim of this initiative is to contribute at urban aesthetic of the port neighbourhood, boosting a larger degree of compromise of their neighbour with environmental care and the positive effects of the arborisation in the retaining of the climatic-change. Beside, this programme, will contribute also in the concretion of the public plan of urban arborisation which it has propose to plant a tree for every Chilean.  
The manager of Chilean Wood Corporation Bio-Bío, Emilio Uribe affirmed that “the plantations in urban areas have various positive impacts, like the soil recovery, beautification of urban abandoned areas and also the trees work as windscreen and noise.
Added that “Talcahuano always is associated at sea, but also there is that to look to the inside of the territory that is composed for green and in this case help to develop a larger harmony between the field and their neighbours”. 22/10/2010
