Essay: English for me and the people

English is the language more popular in the world. It´s the language of business, the language that everyone wishes learn. It´s an idiom present as native, in many countries, principally in countries with a great power, such as: USA and UK. Your knowledge allows an effective communication with many cultures, without matters frontiers. If you know: to speak, to listen, to write and to translate, you will become in a student or worker with many opportunities of triumph in a world so competitive..

To learn English in the University is very difficult. This is a new language, a new reality, a new perspective, that in many opportunities can to affect your performance. It´s more difficult when you begin with phrases, words, dot, points, and specially the logic. The logic and the coherence is the fundament of anything language. For to have an idea about this idiom enough with watch a film, listen a song or read a paper. If everyone does this, in the start, can be very disastrous but with the time can become in something very entertaining. It´s fundamental in the start of your knowledge to have much patience and discipline for this manner to better your understanding. Of course my experience along those two years has of English has been very complicated, in special considering that I don´t had in the college much preparation. I like read papers and speak, it´s very funny, however, the listening for me is terribleJ. It would good that English in the Campus were compulsory, for all students, and so can them, to have a better understanding, due to the great amount of papers for translate. English is simple, but also very difficult and you need much compromise.

If you like learn English, you must be constant and open your mind to a new world. English is much easier than Spanish. However, we think the opposite. There are a lot of people, which know English, for this reason is advisable to realize many activities for achieve it. In my case, I think that in many months I will can have a better performance, because now doesn´t the best. I would like learn for travel and study. Everything you can achieve it with determination and for this is necessary to think in a future, in which we can be better…

My Thesis

I`m actually developing my thesis about citizen participation in projects of forestry investment in the last decade.  This thesis began about three months ago through a subject denominated “Taller de Título”. My guide teacher is called Carmen Luz de la Maza. So, my topic refers to the environmental impact that the projects produces in the environment, considering the opinions of the people. So, the form in that I realize my study is through of an analysis project by project, but only considering the 10 most important in the forestry field. For effects of the selection I consider an instrument called SEIA (Environmental Impact Assessment System), that is which the projects are entered. Then, I will unload and I will analyze.

I chose this topic due to my interest in those thematic, such as: people and environment. It´s a topic very interesting, even though represents the power of citizens front to a environmental problem, that involves a thematic social, economical and political.

We actually had a subject in relation to this and so I took interest for all this.

Yesterday, I had the presentation of my project of thesis front to the Department of Forest Resource Management and it was approved for them. So, I will can develop this thesis of the best manner during a time near at nine months.

I expect from my research it can be effective and clear for to achieve the certificate of Forestry Engineer and so to can work and earn money.

I think that my thesis could help future students or other people through a document useful that represents a monograph about this thematic with the objective to better the politics of integration, democracy and communication between all the persons interested in those topics. I hope my thesis help me to became in a better person.

The Mapuche Conflict

Mapuches are very important for Chile. They are most important native community in the country and for many years the main opponent of the Spanish for about 400 years! This was called “Arauco War”; the

longer war in the history of the humanity. Mapuches are people more brave that never had existed. For those reasons and others, I think that Mapuches have all the right for to follow fighting. There aren´t foundations for doesn´t let them to live. Your fight is for your lands, traditions and rights, for this I believe that this country it´s very ungrateful, in special the government. If everyone thinks about your contribution to the country, nobody will leave of to surprise. For example, the major hero of your people is Lautaro, a Mapuche warrior that gave your life for them. A real example of gallantry and determination. He fought against the Spanish, through knowledge of them. He became in a worker of Pedro de Valdivia, for to know all about them. So, he learned and later got kill to Valdivia.

I would like that Chilean State were more intelligent, fair and understandable with them. Chilean State had realized many try for dispossess them of all, due economical interests and your low education. I believe that lamentably Chile never will pay your debt with them, in special if one considers the times in that we live, guided for individual interests.

For me, the best solution for this conflict is leaving them to live in peace, respecting your traditions, habits and overcoat your lands. They are persons very laborious and sacrificed, that working in agriculture, cattle farming and they love your sacred tree called “Araucaria Araucana”, they extract “piñones” from there, a food very delicious.

We must stay with them and help them to live in peace…

How Green Are You?

In this occasion the interest topic is about “How Green Are You”? And  to start I think that people learn about environmentally friendly practices through of communications, for example: Television, Radio and Internet. I believe that majority of people take environmental practices due to ecological conscience that exist at present. This is due to the natural and artificial catastrophe produced by man and that affects the world in which we live  terribly 

The way in which I have incorporated recycling into my habits has been through a division of  trash, this is referring to separate paper, plastic and glass. So, we can  contribute to a better treatment of these materials in special paper; this last help to a world less deforested and more sustainable.

Another relevant topic is about use of bike or to walk instead of a car. This is very important, since this way we can understand some processes, this is: If one uses bike instead of a car, bus or other, it can  decrease the pollution, due to that release CO2 at atmosphere will be less. For this reason the people should  walk or to bike frequently, and of this manner also the people would have better physique state.

I joined to the organization called Greenpeace that it´s worry about a  more ecological world. This through of  very strong campaign, such as: environmental careful or protection whale.

I would like to make a contribution at Natural Environment, maybe through of my professional practice in the treatment of wetlands in Algarrobo town.

I believe that in Santiago it  is very difficult to establish behaviour, due to the world so industrialized in which we live. To finish this blog, I think that the only way to change this situation is through everyone and so we can live in a  cleaner and conscious world

                   

NEWS “CORMA Biobío and Talcahuano Municipality initiate Urban Forestation Plan 2010-2014

Chilean Wood Corporation and their forest companies associated initiate the Urban Forestation Plan 2010-2014 in the Talcahuano town where it´s will do delivery of 10,000 pine plants with purpose to be utilized in different areas, for example: to fence soccer fields and recreational areas, to contain hills, use them as windscreen and noise.

This initiative it´s sum to the III Peasant Forestation Plan that Chilean Wood Corporation it´s is developing in the period 2010-2014, in 37 rural towns, with a delivery of 7,500,000, plants (1,500,000 annual plants) benefiting to 12,000 families, who will forest 7,500 hectares.

According to guild, the aim of this initiative is to contribute at urban aesthetic of the port neighbourhood, boosting a larger degree of compromise of their neighbour with environmental care and the positive effects of the arborisation in the retaining of the climatic-change. Beside, this programme, will contribute also in the concretion of the public plan of urban arborisation which it has propose to plant a tree for every Chilean.  

The manager of Chilean Wood Corporation Bio-Bío, Emilio Uribe affirmed that “the plantations in urban areas have various positive impacts, like the soil recovery, beautification of urban abandoned areas and also the trees work as windscreen and noise.

Added that “Talcahuano always is associated at sea, but also there is that to look to the inside of the territory that is composed for green and in this case help to develop a larger harmony between the field and their neighbours”. 22/10/2010

The Problem of the Miners

The drama of the miners is a big problem, not only for yours families, but also for all Chile. It’s a shame that hard-working people have this kind of misfortune, especially if they give your life for the job.

Should be terrible to stay underground for a long time, without water, light-sun, food, and especially without a family that can to live with you.

The miners only survive with few reserves and if they hadn’t had their companionship they would have died.

They were approximately fifteen days without help and later arrived too much help. That help came from different places, such as: government, families, ONG, amongst others.  Also other countries such as: Brazil, USA, Peru, France, help them.

In too much places of Chile and the world, did it prayers, in seek help’s God. Also It was very important your own courage for to achieve survive.

Actually, they take about 55 days underground and his rescue has been very slow, due to the deep and difficulty for to make a hole and rescue them.

I think when they go out at surface; your families will be very happy and will wish that never more work in that job so dangerous.

But like also there’re good things, the miners will have too much gifts such as:

-Tickets for watch a soccer match of Manchester United in England.

-Five millions for everyone donated by Leonardo Farkas.

After all, it isn’t so bad to stay underground by many hours, days and weeks…

The Bicentennial of Chile

This celebration represents the first national government. The first effort to break the Spanish yoke, and finally be able to make our first decisions as a sovereign country.

This September 18 is very important to the country because we celebrate 200 years of our society. Personally, I feel happy to can share with my family and friends this date when we can all be united and feel more Chilean than ever. The fact that we can share our traditions such as the cueca, the bolitas, the kites, roasts, among other things, can demonstrate a culture that makes me proud and also feel a sense of patriotism throughout the country.

In this bicentenary I had a great time with my parents, my brother, eating roasts, anticuchos, listening Chilean songs, sharing with many people and feel that, although we are a small country we can transmit lot of us in 200 years.

From Arica to Magallanes in this Bicentennial we feel a little freer, a little more authentic and especially eager to continue looking ahead. I hope our country to progress, we can ignore the poverty, crime, improving health, the education, among many other things as well, who knows maybe we can get the tercentenary as a developed nation.

To finish, congratulate to our great national Heroes such as Bernardo O’Higgins, Jose Miguel Carrera and Arturo Prat who gave their lives for their country in different circumstances and battles.

My Ideal Country

The country in which I would like to visit is United States of America. The purpose of this is to follow studying. I think that USA is the best country for to study. The best universities of the world are there.  I would like to study a graduate in Ecology or Economics all depends of my labour occupy in the next years, because is vital to have a sequence between activities.

Two of my challenges in the next years are to better the English and to join much money for to live. Obviously, I would like to apply at some scholarship.

As well is good to know a new country like USA for different motives such as: culture, music, parties, new people and development. I too know what USA is very hot and that the distances between states are very big.

Some places I like to visit are: Casablanca, Statue of Liberty and many stadiums of Baseball, Basketball and Football.

USA is a country very important, developed and with many opportunities of to progress.

Finally, I think if my purpose its carry out; I could live in USA, about 5 years and then I would return to Chile for to apply learned everything.

Natural Resources Management

The Natural Resources Management is very complex due to involve too many aspects such as: politics, regulations, contingency, currently, amongst others. And everyone has relation with big areas of knowledge. Amongst these we found: forest, water, air, minerals, wildlife, etc. In our case, the interest is put in the Forest.


The Forest is very important because contain too much of the concepts mentioned. For example; Chile has inside of your politics the management of: Native Forest, Plantations, wild areas, arid zones, amongst others. For this purpose, there are institutions concerned. The principal is CONAF, but there are others such as: CONAMA, MOP, SNASPE, etc.

Actually in Chile, the projects for to management the natural resources are very slow due to the country don’t have too much ecological conscience, specially the government and the private company. Then, the terms about health, delinquency, etc are faster of to process.

In the matters about air, soil, water there’re an Environmental Impact Assessment, carry out for CONAMA. Here, exist a system de assessment called SEIA and the same corporation. In the next months, all will be managed for a new ministry of environment.

In others countries the deal to environment is more correct due to their history and develop. An example could be Brazil, in which the management of tropic forest is great due to their enormous ecological conscience and high productivity.

In Chile, for to change the negative aspects, I would develop politics faster and I would involve to the citizenship in the care of natural resources due to is of everyone.

My life in the first term of 2010

In the semester, I had learned too much things interesting. I studied Forestry Industry, Fire Management, Forestry Management, Roads and Transports. My favourite course was Forestry Management; it’s very funny and interesting. With all this knowledge I had can to improve in my academic develop.


The sports that I did it are: Tennis, Soccer. I like to much in special the Tennis. I play with a friend in a court near of my house. My favourite tennis player is Roger Federer.

My favourite activities during the first term of 2010 were: play tennis, go out with my girlfriend, go to beach, to make classes of mathematics, amongst others.

The challenges that I had to face in the last semester were: study too much with the objective to pass my courses because I had eight subjects. Another challenge that I had was to define my memory project which is related to Environmental Impact Assessment.

My relation with my family was very good, despite that my family lives in El Quisco, San Antonio. I went twice a week to visit them.

My relation with my friends was very good so in the University, near of my house, and with my friends of my brother.

Subjects and Interests

I would like the subjects exposed in the blog were entertaining and related to the career Engineering Forestry. The subjects exposed could you be Ecology, Environment, Forestry Market, Habitat Management, etc. The information can be gained from scientific papers, articles, amongst others.

I think that would be interesting to join and to apply the knowledges learned during the career in relationship at the subjects written previously.

Besides what was said previously, it’s of great importance that my classmates and me, we count our experiences about university and daily life. In this manner, we could to know the different lifes, interests and realities of everyone. I hope in this semester, everything is great and helpful for us and so to have a better learning of the language.
